Rosalie volunteered to do the Block-of-the-Month (BOM) for the next 2 years with the stipulation that she could make some changes.

These changes were described at the October 2024 meeting and the group responded positively.

    • Starting in January 2025, Rosalie will present a block each month -- sometimes 2 -- so that we will have at least 12 blocks in the calendar year.

    • Rosalie will not be purchasing fabric or cutting blocks. You will not be buying a block or winning a set of blocks.

    • Instead, each member will make the blocks using your own fabric with the option of making a sampler quilt, a one-block or two-block quilt, or donating the blocks or not making them at all.

    • These blocks will all be 12-inch finished blocks.
    • Suggestions to get ready for this BOM:

    • Choose a focus fabric and other fabrics that coordinate.

    • Or choose a theme: Fall, Christmas, red and white, blue and white etc.

    • Look at your fabric and see what you have the most of color wise and plan a quilt from there.

    • One of the most helpful tips Rosalie got from a teacher years ago was to not buy a bunch of fabric for a class when you don’t know if you will continue it. Instead, make all class samples from Christmas fabric (or Halloween etc) and after a number of classes, you will have enough blocks for a table runner or a sampler.

    • Rosalie tends to make a lot of her sample blocks in red and white or blue and white and now needs to make some quilts with those blocks!

    • Consider joining us in this new version of Block of the Month. The patterns will be printed in the newsletter. A few extras will be available at the meetings for visitors. In addition, past blocks will be available on the website here.

    • Rosalie hopes that you will make quilts from these patterns and enter them in the 2026 Quilt Show. Everyone enjoys seeing quilts with some of the same block patterns but using different fabrics or settings in quilt shows.

    • If you have questions, please email Rosalie.  Her email address is in our Roster located here
